“Chibi Maruko-chan Exhibition” will be held at the Video Museum from September 13th

From September 13th to January 15th 2023, the 30th anniversary project “Chibi Maruko-chan Exhibition” will be held at the SKIP City Sainokuni Visual Plaza Video Museum (Kawaguchi City).

In 1986, “Chibi Maruko-chan”, which began serialization in the girl’s manga magazine “Ribon” (Shueisha), began broadcasting on January 7, 1990, and celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2020. In May of this year, it celebrated its 1,500th broadcast, and its popularity is high among men and women of all ages, making it a national anime.

In this exhibition, we will show the charm of the anime “Chibi Maruko-chan”, which depicts the daily life of the bright and humorous Maruko and her friends who fill the living room with laughter on Sunday evenings, which is the broadcast time slot.

In particular, you can see the transition from the analog era to the modern digital animation production, which is unique to “Chibi Maruko-chan”, which has been loved for a long time. In addition, materials introducing the character settings and private life by the original author, Momoko Sakura, will be exhibited, and Sakura’s thoughts will be introduced.
