“Rilakkuma”: The new Tourism Ambassador of Chiyoda City Tourism Association

On August 18, the Chiyoda Ward Tourism Association and San-X held the inauguration ceremony of the Rilakkuma Chiyoda Ward Tourism Association Tourism Ambassador. Chairman Katsumi Ishiguro, who took the stage, said “I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate Rilakkuma as our tourism ambassador to promote the ward so that it will make families and young people want to visit Chiyoda Ward”. Takaaki Higuchi, Mayor of Chiyoda, said “I hope young people and families will overcome Corona with Rilakkuma and enjoy more sightseeing in Chiyoda”. Hiroshi Chiyoda, president of San-X, said “It’s been 90 years since we were founded in Kanda, and we’re happy to be able to contribute to the local community in Chiyoda Ward, where our head office is located,” with thanks for the appointment of Rilakkuma’s tourism ambassador.

In addition, a new “Rilakkuma Award” will appear at the “6th Tokyo Grand Corridor Photo Contest” currently being held, and collaboration goods will also be sold. These products are unique to Rilakkuma, which guides tourists to Chiyoda Ward, and are sold at the Chiyoda Ward Tourist Information Center. In the future, collaboration cafes are planned to be developed at several famous cafes in Chiyoda Ward.

Furthermore, Chiyoda Ward will increase the number of visitors to 2,000 at the vaccination site with the intention of promoting vaccination of young people and “Let’s vaccinate and overcome corona and go sightseeing in Chiyoda” campaign.
